Listen up travellers! The Union Budget 2017 has brought in a lot of travel related reforms and we have a feeling you might like them.

2017 Budget Highlights For Travellers

2017 Budget Highlights For Travellers

1) More Airports, Less Travel Time

Need a quick getaway, but the destination of choice has no airport? Fret not, the government has decided to build airports in more tier two cities.

2) Disabled-Friendly stations

By far, this is our favourite reform. We believe that everyone has a right to travel and the government is now making this possible by converting 500 railway stations across India into disabled-friendly stations.

3) Easy Passports

Tired of waiting at the passport offices? Good news! That will stop now! As per Budget 2017, the head post offices will double up as passport offices, reducing the strain on the Passport Seva Kendras.

4) Better Roadways

Budget 2017 has allocated 11% more funds for the construction and maintenance of national highways. This will facilitate better connectivity and will make life easier for travellers.

5) Cheaper & Improved Train Travel

We’ve all gone on a holiday where a long train journey was followed by an even longer road trip. And we know how taxing that can get! But the government has plans to make life on the rail, easier. Provisions have been made to build 3,500 km of new railway tracks, along with a number of reforms like bio-degradable toilets, faster grievance management, safety funds, and WiFi-enabled stations. Plus, if you book your tickets online via IRCTC, you no longer have to pay a service charge!

You see, even the Government wants you to travel, and we foresee a lot of travel coming your way. Just visit for all the holiday inspiration you need!
