Cox & Kings Customer Review: Thailand; The Trip Of My Life
Kumar Saurabh, from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, wanted to visit Thailand and fulfill his dream of scuba diving and sky diving. When his friends chose not to go with him, he bought a package tour of Thailand from Cox & Kings and had the time of his life! Here he gives a compelling account of his fantastic tour of Thailand where he scuba dived and sky dived for the first time in his life!
If You Want Something Badly, Work Towards Achieving It!
When you have firm determination of doing things differently, it doesn’t matter whether you are going to do this with your family/friends or you have to do it all alone. The same thing happened to me when I came to know about scuba diving and sky diving through a Bollywood movie, where three friends tried scuba and skydiving as a surprise arranged by one of the friends for others.
I approached all of my friends to make a plan to visit Thailand as this destination was under my budget and I could fulfill my dream to complete the task of scuba and skydiving there. But unfortunately none of my friends agreed to go with me, besides one of my friend who agreed to visit Thailand with me took his feet back when he came to know that I am planning to visit Thailand just for scuba and skydiving. He said do you know swimming, and as he heard the answer in negative, he said, “Are you CRAZY? You don’t even know how to swim and you want to scuba dive! And what about sky diving? what is that?” I said in skydiving we have to jump out of an aircraft at the height of 13,000 ft, and we get to the ground with the help of a parachute. He said, “I thought you are crazy, but now I know you are mad! I am not coming with you because if you die doing those things what shall I tell your family?”
“I am dying to do those things, and if you don’t want to join me, that’s OK, but I’ll still be doing them!” I said.
So first and most important thing was to make my family agree to let me go to Thailand, for which I had to make many requests to my beautiful wife Priyanka and also my 4 year old son Krishna. The task was very difficult, but when you have firm determination to do something extraordinary, the circumstances become favorable for you, and working on this principal I was happy to get permission to visit Thailand from my family. (But there was something I had to hide from my family, i.e. I didn’t tell them that I am going to jump out of an aircraft, as they would never allow me to do the same). The other thing was to obtain permission from District Magistrate, being myself a government employee, in which my boss helped me out very much and with his help I got leave along with permission to leave India between 07 September 2014 to 13 September 2014.
Planning My Trip To Thailand
I had never been out of India and this time I was planning to visit abroad alone. So the next thing I had to do was to book my trip to Thailand through a travel agency and for that Cox and Kings was the name that came into my mind at once. I contacted Mr. Shiv Khandelwal franchisee owner of Cox and Kings and also a good friend of mine. He provided all details about the tour and offered me an itinerary, perfectly tailored by his company employees Ms Sonam Shukla and Ms Sakshi Jauhari, who created an excellent itinerary for my first visit outside India. Also Mr. Shailendra made arrangements for Thai currency and US dollars that FOREX helped me in my tour and had no money problem in the whole visit to Thailand. I am so thankful to these guys and also those persons who were working at the other end on behalf of Cox and Kings, who gave their valuable time for my visit.
The First Solo Journey Of My Life!
My flight to Thailand was early morning from New Delhi. I went to New Delhi one day prior to the tour date. I had booked my train tickets in DBRT-NDLS Rajdhani Express and that too was my first ever experience to travel through Rajdhani type trains. In this way I started The First Ever Journey Of My Life!
I had to pass the whole night waking as I had to check in at Delhi airport, minimum 2 hours before flight departure. I took the flight from Delhi @ 3:15 AM with Thai Airways. Delhi to Bangkok journey is mind blowing. The view from the plane was breath taking. Actually felt like I was taking a tour through heaven…It was a picturesque sight…my plane was flying between the clouds and feeling was like I was floating on silk. I never realised when the plane touched Bangkok airport.
Another First In My Life: Swimming!
I reached Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok @ 9 AM from where I was transferred to my hotel Marble Garden View in Pattaya by the coach already booked for me through DS tours Bangkok. The Hotel was very comfortable and the staff was very hospitable. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Marble Garden View Pattaya. The food was good and the chef there, a young chap named Sachin, was from Dehradun (India). Felt like I’ve met a family member there!
The hotel had a beautiful swimming pool and as I didn’t know how to swim, I opened YouTube on my mobile and got some basic swimming lessons, and with the help of those tips and tricks I myself was unable to believe that I Swam For The Very First Time In My Life!
The next day was booked for Coral Island where I enjoyed water ski, parasailing, under water scuba dive and also had a wonderful lunch at India Restaurant.
The representative provided to me in Pattaya, Thailand (Ms Indy) was really a nice girl. At a very young age, she owned a BMW car. She offered to take pictures of me in her BMW and also a chance to drive her car.
After that I proceeded to do a Tandem Skydive at Si-Racha reservoir Thailand, where I was given brief ground and aerial training on the jump. And then I did the Tandem Skydive with Jucca (my trainer) from USA.
I received a certificate from Thai Sky Adventures and also a T-Shirt (skydivers printed on it) and then I left for Bangkok.
On To Bangkok
In Bangkok I stayed in Hotel Howard Square. This hotel is also very good and service is very nice. Julias (from the Philippines) at the reception of the hotel shared his stories, and the driver outside the hotel (Somsak Tankul) became my friend. He showed me Bangkok in his taxi and we had a great time!
I visited Wat Arun Temple, Byoke Sky Hotel and Indra Square (The Indian Market).
Time was running out, and I had to leave for India and I missed out on the Tiger Temple where people can play with tiger cubs and they do not attack or bite. May be next time I’ll visit the Tiger Temple.
Arrangements made by Cox and Kings was very good. I enjoyed the stay, food, and the sight-seeing. If you visit Thailand, you must see Wat Arun Temple, Tiger Temple in Bangkok and Sanctuary of Truth, Coral Island and Jomtien Beach in Pattaya. Best of luck!
