When we read about Mr. Ashish Bose’s amazing experience on our Marvels of Europe tour, we couldn’t wait to share it with you.

Here, take a look….

A Glimpse Of Paris

An overview of Paris, France

An overview of Paris, France

In June 2015, I explored Paris, Switzerland, Vaduz, Austria, and the beautiful city of Munich with my family on the Cox & Kings Europe tour. I write this article to share my wonderful experience.

This was our first Europe tour, and this destination is not only neat, clean and beautiful; it’s absolutely mind blowing! At Paris, we had an exciting, fun-filled experience at Parc Astérix. We experienced the Tonnerre de Zeus – Europe’s highest wooden roller coaster at ride 80 kmph; the Goudrix, the Oxygenarium, the Transdemonium, the Menhir Express, a log flume ride with a 13 metre drop, and the Grand Splatch – a rapid river ride that kept the adrenaline rushing.

Our next stop was the famed Grévin Wax Museum. Grévin, a legendary site of entertainment since 1882, was created by Alfred Grévin, to produce and showcase life size wax models of celebrities. We were obviously most delighted to the see wax model of Shah Rukh Khan. But we did end up taking many pictures with statues of  Michel Jackson, Maria Callas, Brad Pitt,The Queen, Obama, Naomi Chambell, Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, and more.

We then enjoyed a guided panoramic city tour of famous monuments like the Pyramid of the Louvre, Garnier’s Opera – the largest opera theatre in the world, the River Seine, the Place de la Concorde – the site of the infamous guillotine, the Champs Élysées – one of the most fashionable streets in the world, the Napoleanic Arc de Triomphe, and the Hotel des Invalides. We took on the dazzling overview of the glittering city as we ascend by an elevator to the 2nd level of the Eiffel Tower.

All About Switzerland

We all have seen Switzerland in the movie “Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jayenge”. Well yes! It is 100 times more beautiful than what we have seen in any movie!

The place has strict rules as it’s the main center for UNO (the United Nations Organization), and also the very famous Swiss bank is situated in Zurich. Although there is a problem as far as communication is concerned as their official language is French and people hardly speak English, the place is still amazing and is a must-visit.

Our experience of the snowy mountains at Jungfrau and Glacier 3000 , can be simply stated as “ I am at the TOP of the WORLD”. The joyful ride of “Ice Flyer”, “Roller Coaster” and “Snow Bus” is breathtaking. We also explored many cities of Switzerland like Geneva, Leysin, Interlaken, Lucerne and Innsbruck.

At Glacier 3000, we found an everlasting snow mountain, that offered panoramic views of the most beautiful summits of the Alps. Ascent is by cable car to Scex Rouge (2971m).  We had a wild ride on the Alpine Coaster , the world’s highest bobsleigh track. It’s amazing and runs at approximately 40 km/hour, with the brakes that we can use to determine how fast we want to go. The ultimate highlight is the 520-degree loop, followed by 10 curves, 6 waves, 3 jumps and 2 bridges.

The magnificent Glacier 3000 - Peak Walk

The View Point (stairs) located directly behind the Restaurant Botta 3000 offers a 360-degree view that includes some of the most beautiful alpine peaks – from the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau to the Matterhorn. We then took the 107 meters Peak Walk along a suspension bridge, and the Ice Express to ride the snow bus over the glacier. Later we enjoyed a hot buffet lunch and returned to Col du Pillion. Thereafter we went to Vevey, Montreux . We also saw Charlie Chaplin’s statue, and the place where he resided at Switzerland.

Thereafter the ultimate fantasy came true at Mt. Cox & Kings Mountain. We went uphill in a cable car and enjoyed panoramic, 360 degree views of this stunning place. The most spectacular part of the tour was the Dancing Party. We had great fun with all our fellow travellers and our tour manager Mr. Daruwalla at the Disco Dancing session. All of us did manage to show our effective dancing skills!

Then we enjoyed our excursion to the Jungfrau, the ‘Top of Europe’, a wonderful world of glaciers and eternal ice. Onto Jungfrau, we reached the highest altitude railway station in Europe by a charming, red cogwheel train, amid dramatic mountain scenery! We walked on the great Aletsch Glacier, at 22kms – the longest ice stream in the Alps, visited the glistening Ice Palace, and the Sphinx Observation Terrace, at 3571 m, the loftiest point of all, the Alpine view certainly took our breath away.

Then we visited the popular holiday resort of Interlaken, strolled cozily between the beautiful Lakes of Brienz and Thun, where we saw horse-drawn carriages.

We then moved forward to Lucerne and explored its picturesque mountains, lakes, cowbells, alpine villages and meadows, the poignant Lion Monument, the wooden Kapellbrücke (chapel bridge), and the ornate Jesuit Church.

Our next stop was as the Principality of Liechtenstein and at Vaduz – the capital, famous for postage stamps. At Vaduz, we clicked stunning photographs of  the marvelous castles. It felt like we had entered a fairy tale! The roads were clear like crystals, and houses were beautifully decorated with flowers, and obviously beautifully dressed people like dolls.

Next Stop Austria; Almost The End

On our drive to Austria, we halted at the internationally renowned Swarovski Crystal World in Wattens, and were dazzled by the ‘Chambers of Wonder’! In an astonishing blue hall dominated by a Unicum- a wall of crystal, we stared at the world’s biggest crystal and also the smallest!

We continued on a scenic drive to Innsbruck. Located on the Inn River, Innsbruck is one of Europe’s most beautiful and lively cities. We watched the  Golden Roof or ‘Goldenes Dachl’, an ornate Gothic balcony erected by the Emperor Maximilian I in the 15th century, decorated with gold painted copper shingles. Our amazing trip ended with a walk to the Imperial Palace, which is the capital of Alps, and has a history of 800 years!

Again, an incredible experience with extremely helpful staff, who guided us on everything that we actually needed to make our dream tour so perfect!

I can proudly say that yes, I want to again visit this picturesque world when I’m old, and even in my next life!
