Kolkata’s trams, a legacy of the British, were first introduced in 1873. Horse-drawn trams began commercial operations in 1881, and steam trams made an appearance in 1882. Kolkata’s electric trams were rolled out in 1902 and are the oldest operating electric trams in Asia.
