Hampi: For Backpackers & Rock-Climbers

Things To Do In Hampi

Visit the iconic Hampi Bazaar with its Virupaaksha Temple and  the waterfalls nearby. See the Hanuman Temple and Vittala temple. Go rock-climbing in this undisputed bouldering capital of India. Shop for boho-style clothes and souviners and visit the Elephant Stables, where royal pachyderms were once housed.

Is Hampi Safe For Women?

Hampi is visited by hippies, budget tourists, serious rock-climbers, religious tourists and families, so locals are pretty much used to all kinds of travellers. They tend to be friendly and helpful. However, dress appropriately, as this is primarily a rural, religious destination. Avoid venturing out at night near the boulders, which are home to leopards and sloth bears. The river is also full of boulders and can be tricky, so use the boats and heed the warning signs wherever they have been put up.

Where To Stay In Hampi

Uramma Cottage run by the Kishkinda Trust offers a good option. Sloth Bear Heritage Resort offers a jungle stay, while Hotel Mayuri Bhuvaneshwari run by the state tourism department is also worth a try. On either side of the river, there are numerous budget hotels, rooms and home-stays available.

not mind. Could it be simply me or does it give the impression like some of these remarks look like they are written by brain dead folks?
😛 And, if you are posting at additional sites, I’d like to follow you. Could you list the complete urls of all your social sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
