    Dear Team,
We were part of the Himachal Delights tour in May 2019. The entire trip was very well planned for us by Ms Sayani Datta of C&K Mandeville Gardens office , Kolkata and well organised by your Delhi tour manager Mr Sarvesh Yadav .
Day 1 started with a long road trip from Delhi Terminal 1 through Murthal, Sonepat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Panchkula, Pinjore to Shimla. We enjoyed the changing topography, weather conditions and vegetation. Reaching Shimla at 2.30 am, we had a quick rest and were back in the breakfast table at Manla Homes sharp at 8 am ! The day started with a winding up trip to Kufri valley and later in the day, we were taken to the famous Mall Road which commands a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city. The iconic Christ Church, British style architecture and salubrious climate of Shimla held us spell-bound.
Next day early morning, Cox & Kings Team started for the grinding trip to Manali – the queen of the Western Himalayas. The sojourn was through amazing scenic beauty, past Sundernagar, Mandi, Kullu Highway and we were really amazed at the expansive verdant valleys and lofty peaks of the Pir Panjal Range. We made it to Manali at 10 pm and checked into Serenity Resort , a 4 star property. Next day early morning, we were in for the biggest surprise — all around us high above in the sky, a series of snow-capped peaks, shimmering in the rays of the morning sun ! After a sumptuous breakfast, we headed for Vashisht Ashram and then for the Solang Valley, We trekked up part of the way and enjoyed the indescribable beauty of the towering snow-clad peaks. Mr Sarvesh coordinated very well with us and after this unique experience, we went for adventure sports near the Beas river and thereafter visited the Hadimba temple constructed way back in 1553 AD. Our experiences were getting filled up to the brim – but perhaps the best was yet to come ! Next day , the trip to Rohtang got cancelled due to permit problems , Mr Sarvesh took right decision to gudie us to Hallan Snow point – perched ablve at 8500- 9000 feet on mountainous top near the Kullu Highway. The road up was adventurous, dangerous, thrilling, exhilarating – past ravines, waterfalls , himalayan jungles and with the rumbling sound of the Beas river deep below us. After a while, we had to stop and then started the arduous trek in quest for the snow line. All 25 of us put in our best efforts for this unique mountainous trek up the slopes of the majestic mountains — sometimes crossing marshy slopes, sometimes leaping over logs and vegetation, balancing our steps as this was an off-road off -route trek where few have traversed before. Our efforts were amply rewarded when we finally made it to the snow point – even in the peak of summer ! Children immediately got together to carve out their snow man , others scrambled for selfies and groupies , while enthusiasts commenced with sports . The magnificent view , ethereal beauty , virgin greenery and above them, the scintillating snow peaks – all had a mesmerising effect on me. Afer cherishing these moments of life in solitude, we trekked down – which was even more thrilling . Lunch near the Beas river proved to be a great reward and we thoroughly enjoyed the friendly environment there.
The trip was coming to an end and all team members were showing visible signs of sadness and were morose at the though of leaving the company of the snow-clad peaks and the blur firmament high above us. All good things do end fast — so next day we started the downhill journey to Chandigarh – a good 350 km , taking 13 hours. We checked into Hotel 6 , noted for its comfort, grandeur and friendly staff. After regaling ourselves of the experience of the past few days, it was time to bid farewell to our our guests as we boarded the bus for the final time — enroute New Delhi .. Coach drivers Mr Sam and Mr Hunny Singh became close friends and the group of 27 guests were now like a family . With heavy heart, we parted and reached Delhi for our onward homebound flight. Thanks to Cox & Kings for offering this wonderful experience and showcasing the unique beauty of the Eastern Himalayas. I would recommend my friends and colleagues to avail of this special tour and rediscover themselves . Hope to be with mother Nature again — soon in our next trip with Cox &Kings ! Thanks !!
