Tamil Nadu plans to introduce and promote helicopter tourism to draw in more domestic and international visitors.

Soon you'll be flying high above the Meenakshi Temple in Madhurai

Soon you will be able to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the spectacular Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai.

Constant innovation is the key to success in the Tourism Industry, and Tamil Nadu seems to be on the winning path with numerous plans up its sleeve. The southern state announced plans to start helicopter services to draw in more foreign tourists and provide better transport facilities.

To begin with, the helicopter services will connect Madurai to Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari and Kodaikanal. This plan, part of a move to introduce more adventure activities in the state, is in the pipeline and is expected to be launched soon. The helicopter services will also be expanded to help divert tourist attention from popular hot spots to rarely visited, rural towns like Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam, among others.

The Tamil Nadu government also intends to develop beach tourism and offer more adventure activities to attract tourists and develop the state further. Tourism has been one of the most important industries in Tamil Nadu, which is the most popular among Indian states for both domestic and foreign tourists.
