Road trips are ideal to enjoy and feel the amazing driving experience through a foreign country. Whether you are planning to have a road trip with your family or your close friends, choosing the right destination is essential. Long romantic trips or short and exciting ones require different settings, but whatever your choice will be, a proper planned road trip will be something to remember and talk about for years to come.

Here are some of the most exciting destinations for an amazing road trip vacation around the world.

France

Enjoy the romantic experience through the historic Provence region

Southern France is the exquisite place for relaxation and romantic getaways, with winding roads, small family wineries and numerous historic villages and cottages. The absolute mesmerizing smell of lavender field will leave breathless while you enjoy the delicate French cuisine at a local restaurant. Starting in the city of Avignon, take the secondary quiet road to the village of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue to experience the regional taste and wonderful historic architecture. Old town houses and a small weekend market will sooth your senses as you enjoy the scenery. Antique shops and small restaurants complete this idyllic setting. Continue driving to Roussillon, all the way to the Alpes de Haute region through spectacular mountain roads. The cliffs are absolute stunning, with houses perched high on the top, as medieval watchtowers. The route ends near the village of Les Baux-des-Provence, set around olive farms and poppy fields. Explore the ancient Baux fortress, now laying in ruins, but still an exhilarating experience for the history enthusiasts.

Australia

Explore the beaches of the East Coast

Going on a road trip through Australia must definitely include the East Coast, with its fabulous beaches and cities. But, keep in mind, before embarking on a road trip through this vast continent, car rental would be a very good idea. Starting from Sydney, after just a three and a half hour drive, you will come across the Worimi Conservation Lands, a fantastic beach area, stretching for 25 miles. The area is known for the striking views and numerous surfers try to catch the waves here. Also, Tomaree National Park is a must visit area, filled with surfing areas, canoe riding and bird spotting areas. Continue up north to Byron Bay, with the famous Julian Rocks nearby, from where you can enjoy watching the wild dolphins, manta rays and sharks. Drive further north and reach the Gold Coast, known as the surfers’ paradise, and also the wonderful city of Brisbane. Here you can catch a boat to Indooroopilly Island to watch the flying foxes. Also, try to reach the Great Keppel Island, which boasts a great resort with pools, restaurants and waterparks.

USA

The Lake Michigan Tour

The Lake Michigan area is home to vast expanses of rolling dunes, sandy beaches and stunning views. Whenever you choose to set on a road trip, you will definitely find something fun to do. The most common and spectacular ride is from Milwaukee to Ludington. Spanning for hundreds of miles, the lake boasts scenic towns and cities, including Chicago, relaxing forests and quiet retreats for the whole family. A wonderful experience along the way is also the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail, starting from the eastern area of Chicago all the way to Muskegon. The last part of the road trip will take you through wild forests and quiet pebble beaches, where you can truly enjoy your vacation. The final city to come across is Ludington, where you can visit the exciting marina and water front park.
