Winter time in Europe is often cold and unpleasant, but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend time outside when the sun does show its face. Hadlay Mclean has compiled a list of tourist places in Europe  and destinations in which to enjoy local delicacies in an outdoor setting–preferably with a spectacular view!

#1 Positano, Italy

Beautiful Positano, along the Amalfi Coast in Italy

This medieval town is nestled on the Amalfi Coast along the cliff lined shoreline. With an abundance of seafood available, azure filled vistas and loads of sunshine–it’s always a good time to light up your BBQ.

#2 Lyon, France

As one of the most picturesque cities in France, Lyon is the perfect place to enjoy your favourite grilled treats. Sights abound, and a crisp cool winter climate ensures you can enjoy the excellent wine in the vicinity – you’d be doing yourself a favour with a stopover here.

#3 Wengen, Switzerland

You’ll find this breathtakingly beautiful village in the centre of the country. You are sure to be overwhelmed by a sensory overload, as the sizzling meat pierces the silence and you take in the vast mountainous surrounds.

#4 Munich, Germany

Few would argue against the following fact: a barbeque without beer is not a BBQ at all. And what could be better than the delightful fragrant smell of a Weiɮwurst (white sausage) cooking while you enjoy a locally produced Weissbier. You should try to time your visit to coincide with the famous Oktoberfest–a must-visit event for beer lovers.

#5 Santorini, Greece

Santorini- a wonder in itself.

As far as Mediterranean islands go, few are as idyllic or beautiful as this one. The tranquility provided on this piece of paradise hides a violent past, with the island being a remnant of a giant volcano that erupted over 3000 years ago. Today, the legendary cliff-side abodes offer inviting views of the ocean.

#6 Granada, Spain

Bullfighting is still practiced in this ancient town, so you can rest assured that you won’t be lacking in beefy delights to place over the coal. With a broad influence of cultures, thanks to centuries of cultural intermingling, there is much to see and do, as well as a wealth of good food to be enjoyed.

#7 Oslo, Norway

If you’re a lover of seafood there are few better places to enjoy it than in this city. It can get a bit chilly in the winter months, so what better way to warm up after skiing than enjoying a sizzling BBQ.

#8 Dubrovnik, Croatia

The city walls of Dubrovnik, Croatia, make for a dramatic view

Situated on the coast of the glorious Adriatic Sea, this old walled city captures the imagination thanks to its fantastic setting. On top of that you get to take in the awe-inspiring surrounds and smell the delight coming off the griddle.

#9 Corsica, France

Napoleon Boneparte was born on this lovely island and any time spent here will be well worth the while. Just about every part of the isle offers sumptuous views of the surroundings, making it an ideal locale for cooking some food under a canopy of clear winter skies.
