If travel is your first love, then the second week of February is when you show your true love how much you really care. And whether you like to trek, bike, or pedal, we’ve got 5 holiday destinations that are awesome for solo travellers! So go on, break out your travel gear, pack your essentials, and head out for a fabulous Valentine’s Day holiday!

1. Pondicherry

If you crave some relaxing time alone, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Pondicherry is the best place for you. The largest city in the union territory of Puducherry, it is located on the Tamil Nadu coast. Since it was one of the few French colonial possessions in India, it has a uniquely French feel to it. Pondy, as it is commonly known, is the closest you will get to experiencing France without actually flying to Europe! The architecture is colonial and quaint, the food has a distinct French flavour, and the beer is freely available and cheap. Enjoy the soothing sun, lounge about on the sandy beaches and soak in all the silence you could need. Looking for some spiritual healing? Drive down to the universal township of Auroville, which is known for its temples and ashrams.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, lies pretty Pondicherry.

2. Kasol

The hills and valleys of Himachal Pradesh have many options where you can lose yourself on a solo trip. If you want to avoid the crowd, the sleepy hamlet of Kasol, a few hours’ drive away, is a perfect spot. A popular destination for hippies and trekking enthusiasts, Kasol is located near the Parvati River and has some great cafés for European cuisine.
