For all you music lovers out there, Iceland’s Airwaves festival kicked off with a bang on the 5th of November and came to a close on 9th November in Reykjavík. Known for its intimacy and party spirit, the last day saw many people sniffing and wanting more. The festival comprises of hundreds of concerts by local and international artists in venues around Reykjavík.

The lineup included Flaming Lips, The War on Drugs, Caribou, Samaris, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Future Islands, FM Belfast, Jungle, Klangkarussell, La Femme, Mammút, East India Youth, Árstíðir, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Agent Fresco, Ballet School, Ezra Furman, Lay Low, Kwabs, Son Lux, Tomas Barfod, The Vintage Caravan, Vök and Munstur. Some of the venues were Vodafone Hall, Reykjavik are museum, Frederiksen, Gamla Bio and many more.

But the best part is yet to come other than the main venues, there were 675 off-venue gigs which were absolutely free. So basically it was like one long hippie weekend filled with music and dance.

Iceland Airwaves is promoted and produced by Iceland Music Export and sponsored by its founder Icelandair, in cooperation with the City of Reykjavik.
